二人称 (second person) Lyrics & Tracklist – ヨルシカ (Yorushika)
二人称 (second person) is the third full-length studio album by the Japanese musical duo ヨルシカ (Yorushika), released on March 4, 2026, under Polydor Records (Universal Music LLC). Marking their first full album release in approximately three years since Gentou (2023), the project is a massive 22-track digital collection that deeply integrates music with literature.
Album Concept and Background
The album is based on an original “epistolary novel” (a novel written in the form of letters) also titled 二人称 (Second Person), authored by Yorushika’s composer and guitarist, n-buna. The novel was published by Kodansha on February 26, 2026, just days prior to the album’s digital debut. The narrative follows a strange correspondence between a boy who writes poetry and his “Sensei” (teacher), exploring themes of world discovery, hidden truths, and the relationship between the self and the “other” (the second person).
Musical Style and Composition
True to Yorushika’s signature style, the album blends alternative rock with intricate piano melodies and storytelling. It features a mix of high-energy tracks and melancholic ballads. Notable additions include the song “Chidori,” which incorporates a driving horn section and complex guitar arrangements, inspired by the poetry of Kenji Miyazawa. The album also includes a re-recording of their earlier hit “Hitchcock,” providing a modern interpretation of the band’s older sound.
Release Information
Released exclusively as a digital album, 二人称 (second person) consolidates several high-profile singles released between 2023 and 2025 alongside twelve brand-new compositions. Pre-release tracks such as “Sunny” (晴る), used as an opening theme for the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and “Plaesick” (プレイシック), featured in Daihatsu television commercials, are included in the final tracklist.
