[Verse 1]
I drag my feet through the mud
Put in the sweat and the blood
I think about how I’m farther than my father ever was
The air just keeps getting thinner
I haven’t been home for dinner in a while
To see that smile, but I’m trying

[Pre-Chorus]
And I’m closer, closer than I’ve ever been
But I’m further away than I wish
[Chorus]
I know the last mile is the hardest
‘Cause you don’t know where it ends
Sometimes, it takes a little longer
Walking on never-ending stairs
Just follow the path until you’re there
Rеmember the last milе is the hardest
Still far away, but I’m getting there

[Verse 2]
I see my breath in the cold
I feel the cracks in the mold
I think by losing my purpose
In the first steps that I miss
Not chasing anything gold
Just something harder to hold
I’ve got my eye on tomorrow
Where that takes me, I don’t know

[Pre-Chorus]
But I’m closer, closer than I’ve ever been
Still, I’m further away than I wish

[Chorus]
I know the last mile is the hardest

‘Cause you don’t know where it ends
Sometimes, it takes a little longer
Walking on never-ending stairs
Just follow the path until you’re there
Remember the last mile is the hardest
Still far away, but I’m getting there

[Outro]
Just follow the path until you’re there
Remember the last mile is the hardest
Still far away, but I’m getting there
