[Verse 1]
It’s gotten hard for me to stop by
But I turned in that drive
Walked past his rusty two tune Chevy truck
Now days he moves real slow
When the hell’d he get so old
I said “hey old man, how you holding up?”
He said

[Chorus]
The sun is it shining got nothing but time
Cause it’s Friday all day long

Be a hell of a day to be out on the lake
On a boat with the radio on
We both know his best days are behind him
But all he had to say is I bet they’re biting

[Verse 2]
He said I know a shady old spot
I used to go there a lot
I can almost smell the burnt oil from that evanroute
Right now I don’t know when
But I know I’m gonna go again
Catch the fire out of them largemouth bass
Like I used to

[Chorus]
And the sun is it shining got nothing but time
Cause it’s Friday all day long
Be a hell of a day to be out on the lake
On a boat with the radio on
We both know his best days are behind him
But all he had to say is I bet they’re biting

[Post-Chorus]
Yeah I bet they’re biting

[Bridge]
He said, I’m glad that you dropped by
But if I was you, boy I’d be out on that water
Wetting a line

[Chorus]
And the sun is it shining got nothing but time
Cause it’s Friday all day long
Be a hell of a day to be out on the lake
On a boat with the radio on
We both know his best days are behind him
While that old man, was laying there dying
All he had to say is I bet they’re biting

[Outro]
Yeah boy, right now I bet they’re biting
