[Verse 1]
When I defend him like I do
He’s not an ending many would refuse
If I forgive him, will I be sure?
I’ll stretch my limbs to him evermore

[Pre-Chorus]
It’s not the words that I can’t say
It’s just the shame that I can’t make
Sorry, dear, now you’re near, I am not so strong
To appear with him here when our war begun
[Chorus]
And keep smiling
Keep smiling
Keep smiling
Keep smiling

[Verse 2]
Curved at the edges, first in a frown
Held like a trophy, there in my mouth

[Pre-Chorus]
It’s not the worst that I can’t be him
Giving to you and then at least
I will find, I’m resigned to the boy and me
I forget what he did, turn the other cheek

[Chorus]
And keep smiling
Keep smiling
Keep smiling
Keep smiling

[Outro]
Look away, look away
From the face that gave

Look away, look away
From mistakes made
Look away, look away
Look at what you made
