Is it a form of fine blindness to ignore the signs as they show?
I’m not sure where it goes
And yet, I race down this slope
There’s eyes behind the snow
These lights deny the hope, till it’s a shadow of what I used to know

I’m wandering through these alleys of what ails me, knowing just where they lead
I’m pondering whose this blood is, but I know just that it belongs to me
Which version will survive and which will die as it bleeds?

“Is it a quarter-life crisis?”
How long is a piece of rope?
And how will I cope when thousands more focus their scope?
They’ll go right for the throat
They’re here to see a show
And they’ll fire if they don’t
They’ll always find ammo to load

And, I
I truly did believe that what they see would grow to be my remedy
But fate, it seems, loves irony and so, it’s become my tragedy; my agony
There’s so many eyes that I cannot see a happy ending
Just one delayed by what can’t heal me
Until something else can come and kill me
Hiding behind a hidden prose no one knows
So, tell me, when you do find this sordid melody
Will you deny and try to remind me that I asked for this?

I wished for this

And as the third finger closes, its grasp now clasps something new
These cymbals weren’t for you
But monkey see, manic do
I’ll crash and dance in tune
I’ll play this song all the way through

And when I finally do, it will come crashing down in flames

And it’s you who I will blame
So take fire, then take aim
It’s all the same, same, same
So, I’ll play it anyway
Fame. Shame
I’ll play your game
