[Verse 1]
This book is full of pages and the ones that I should burn
Are all the same ones that I turn to when I’m lost
I’m not sure if I miss him or the blissful optimism
Of the girl you know damn well you could’ve loved

[Pre-Chorus]
All my friends would die if they knew I still see you in a good light
From time to time

[Chorus]
But I won’t let the truth get in the way of a good story
I leave out all the details that don’t add up to your glory
Everybody hates you and I know that I should too
It’s just nice to misremember you

[Verse 2]
If hindsight’s 20/20, I prefer it to be blurry
So it’s easier to stomach than the truth
‘Cause if I’m gonna hate you I would have to hate the version of myself
That once believed in you

[Pre-Chorus]
All my friends would die if they knew I still see you in a good light
From time to time

[Chorus]
So I won’t let the truth stand in the way of a good story
I leave out all the details that don’t add up to your glory
‘Cause everybody hates you and I know that I should too
It’s just nice to misremember you
It’s just nice to misremember you

[Bridge]
Misremember
The nights I stayed up wishing you’d call
When you were to blame but you let me take the fault

I played your game, I screamed your name
‘Til I got so close to not missing you at all
You knew you had me right in your hands
I prayed to God that shadow of a man
Would turn out to be the one for me
But I was way too young to really understand

[Outro]
I’d rather misremember you
I’d rather misremember you
