[Verse 1]
I know I should hit the highway
Save myself some lonely nights
You only hit me up on Fridays
Thought that I could change your mind

[Pre-Chorus]
And I tried to tell myself that less is more
‘Cause a guy like you‘s got one foot out the door

[Chorus]
So why do I cry? You were never a forever guy
Why do I try? You were never a forever guy
I guess I should have known from the way you’re kissing me
Baby, it was too good, I guess too good to believe
So why do I cry? You were never a forever guy

[Verse 2]
Whenever the whiskey’s flowing
You act like I’m all you need
But baby, when the bar is closing
You’re not coming home with me

[Pre-Chorus]
And I’m all alone waiting by the phone
And I wish that you would call, but you won’t

[Chorus]
So why do I cry? You were never a forever guy
Why do I try? You were never a forever guy
I guess I should have known from the way you’re kissing me
Baby, it was too good, I guess too good to believe
So why do I cry? You were never a forever guy

[Outro]
So why do I cry? You were never a forever guy
