For Your Consideration Lyrics (English Translation) – Mon Laferte

Up from Above

I hate admitting I turned into something sold away
I mix up being admired with being loved that way
Is it all the traffic of Likes or just marketing?
Don’t ask me for consistency, I don’t believe in anything

I’m exhausted, but once again I force myself to work
The guilt, capitalism, neoliberal optimism, they never let me stop or shirk
Maybe I should learn to be a little more aware
But please, for your consideration, I’ve gotta be involved, I can’t go anywhere

When I’m feeling low, I find understanding online
And not in a figurative sense, because I’m anti-simulation by design
Anti-actress, anti-singer, anti-Hegelian too
I’m a foolish feminist with nothing left to lose
Let the world burn down, I already won, improv

To be or not to be, there’s the question
My body pays the price for what my name earns, that’s the lesson
Is it therapy or am I selling intimacy?
Songs full of ego and insecurity
It’s not ambition, it’s survival
And honestly, no, I have no idea what I’m doing

I wanna sit in the bathroom scrolling on my phone till my legs go numb
Gain weight in peace with no human interaction, binge-watch shows and come undone
But I have to keep going, the world demands I keep going
That’s why I’m asking you, for your consideration
